VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, May 18, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Artha Resources Corporation /quotes/comstock/11v!ahc (CA:AHC 0.13, 0.00, 0.00%) is pleased to announce completion of phase one follow-up work on two key properties that immediately adjoin Silver Standards Pirquitas Mine (see map, http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/ahc0518.pdf). Ongoing field programs on the Crosby and Pirquitas Norte properties have delineated two new prospects in the area adjacent to and in the same structural setting as the Pirquitas Mine. Surface work has again identified a number of important features including historical workings, argillic alteration, quartz and carbonate veining and stock-working plus structural features suggestive of epithermal mineralization.
Over 200 rock chip samples have been collected from the recently mapped Pirquitas NW and Pirquitas South prospects with assays expected shortly. More news will be released once the report has been received from our field team, which is anticipated in the coming week. Induced polarization geophysics is expected to commence shortly and will focus on the two highest priority targets, Noelia Breccia and Pirquitas South. This program is planned to take 3-4 weeks to complete and will deliver more refined drill targets for the upcoming drilling program, scheduled to begin in the third quarter.
Artha's CEO, Charles Straw, commented on the results by saying, "after visiting the properties in early May I continue to be impressed by the number of very promising targets our team has identified. The surface geology surrounding Pirquitas shows all the signs of a large epithermal system with broad areas of alteration and structural features consistent with this deposit model. These properties are the cornerstone of a portfolio of silver, gold, base metals, uranium and rare earth exploration properties. They continue to deliver highly encouraging results in an under explored mineral province which hosts world class ore bodies. Artha is well positioned to take advantage of a real and rapid growth in this region's mineral development and remains committed to developing and expanding its assets in the region. "
Charles Straw, B.Sc., is the qualified person under NI 43-101 responsible for the technical information in this news release.
Artha was founded by a team of mining industry professionals with a proven track record in project generation, exploration, mining and finance. The Company's principle exploration target adjoins Silver Standards Pirquitas Mine, one of the largest primary silver mines in the world located in the province of Jujuy in NW Argentina. Artha has become one of the largest mineral explorers in the region with over 900 square kilometers of properties prospective for silver, gold, base metals and rare earths.
