Minera Andes Announces Second Quarter 2011 Financial Results

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 11, 2011) - Minera Andes Inc. (the "Company" or "Minera Andes") (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) is pleased to announce net income of $10.7 million ($0.04 per share basic and diluted) for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, an increase of $6.4 million compared to net income of $4.3 million ($0.02 per share basic and diluted), for the same period in 2010.

The increase is primarily attributable to the strong performance of the San José Mine where our 49% ownership interest is reflected in our income from investment in Minera Santa Cruz S.A. ("MSC") which increased from $4.1 million in Q2 2010 to $13.5 million in Q2 2011. Comparing Q2 2010 to Q2 2011, silver ounces sold at MSC increased from 1,295,000 ounces ("oz") to 1,584,000 oz reflecting an increase of 22% and gold oz sold remained at 22,000 oz. MSC also benefitted from higher silver and gold prices: the average weighted gross sale price for silver was $36.18 per oz in Q2 2011 compared to $18.21 per oz in Q2 2010, a 99% increase; the average weighted gross sale price for gold was $1,496 per oz for gold compared to $1,233 per oz, a 21% increase.

In June 2011, Mr. Robert McEwen, the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and largest shareholder of the Company and of US Gold Corporation ("US Gold") proposed the combination of the two companies to create a high growth, low-cost, mid-tier silver producer focused on the Americas. Completion of the business combination is conditional on approval of Minera Andes' and US Gold's Board of Directors and their special committees, confirmatory due diligence, the approval of each company's shareholders, and satisfaction of customary approvals, including regulatory, stock exchange, and court approvals. As a result of this proposal both companies have formed special committees of independent directors to review Mr. McEwen's proposal and have retained independent financial advisors and independent legal counsel to consider the transaction. The business combination, if approved, is anticipated to become effective in late November 2011.

Our financial statements and management's discussion and analysis are available under the Company's profile at www.sedar.com and www.sec.gov.

Minera Andes Announces Second Quarter 2011 San Jose Mine Production

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 20, 2011) - Minera Andes Inc. (the "Company" or "Minera Andes") (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) announces production results from its 49% owned San José mine in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. Overall production at the San José mine during the second quarter of 2011 was 1,332,000 ounces of silver and 17,700 ounces of gold, of which 49% is attributable to Minera Andes. Production cost information will be provided in conjunction with our second quarter 2011 financial results expected to be released mid-August.

Compared to the first quarter of 2011, second quarter 2011 silver production was 12% lower and gold production was 17% lower. The decrease in silver and gold production was due to a 14% reduction in mill throughput because of a strike at the mine during the second quarter of 2010, which resulted in the loss of 18 days of production. The principal issue surrounding the strike was wages, and a final agreement has been reached with the local union. In addition, annual wage negotiations with the union have reached a satisfactory conclusion. The wage agreements were in line with expectations.

Compared to the second quarter of 2010, second quarter 2011 mill throughput decreased 15% due to the strike at the mine during the second quarter of 2011. However, the silver head grade and metallurgical recovery increased in the second quarter of 2011 compared to the second quarter of 2010, resulting in a net increase of 9% for silver production. The gold head grade was essentially unchanged, but higher metallurgical recovery for gold partially offset the lower mill throughput, resulting in a net decrease of 10% for gold production compared to the second quarter of 2010. Metallurgical recoveries improved to 89% for gold and 87% for silver in the second quarter of 2011 compared to 85% for gold and 81% for silver in the second quarter of 2010.

The difference in the amount of metal sold in the quarter compared to the amount produced was due to timing differences.

Minera Andes Announces First Quarter 2011 San Jose Mine Production

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 20, 2011) - Minera Andes Inc. (the "Company" or "Minera Andes") (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) announces production results from its 49% owned San José mine in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. Overall production at the San José mine during the first quarter of 2011 was 1,522,207 ounces of silver and 21,412 ounces of gold, of which 49% is attributable to Minera Andes. Production cost information will be provided in conjunction with our first quarter 2011 financial results expected to be released mid-May.

Compared to the first quarter of 2010, first quarter 2011 silver production increased 85% and gold production increased 30%. Mill throughput increased 18% over that period due to higher daily production rates as a result of an increase in the number of high grade stoping areas available for mining, including the high grade Kospi vein. This improved access resulted in a higher average silver head grade mined, consistent with reserve grades, compared to the first quarter 2010. Higher recovery rates also contributed to the increased production.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2010, first quarter 2011 silver production was 19% lower and gold production was 18% lower. The decrease in silver and gold production was primarily the result of lower mine production with tonnage down by 16% and slightly lower head grades for both silver and gold, partially offset by higher recovery rates. Tonnage in the first quarter of 2011 was lower than the fourth quarter of 2010 primarily as production was impacted by the seasonal effect of fewer production days in the first quarter relative to the fourth quarter of the year.

The difference in the amount of metal sold in the quarter compared to the amount produced was due to timing differences.

Minera Andes Announces Outstanding 2010 Exploration Drill Results at the San Jose Mine

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 10, 2011) - Minera Andes Inc. (the "Corporation" or "Minera Andes") (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) is pleased to provide a summary of the exploration results achieved during 2010 at the San José Mine. A total of 7.5 kilometers of new high-grade silver/gold veins were discovered in 2010 representing a 44% increase in the cumulative strike length of all veins known at the mine at the end of 2009. In addition, drilling in 2010 through September 30th produced a doubling of the Inferred Mineral Resources, as previously reported on November 22, 2010. The new veins are located within the area of the existing San José mining operations between the Kospi and Frea veins, and access for the new veins will be developed from existing underground mine workings. The discoveries are the result of a significant increase in the exploration effort at San José compared to previous years. Rob McEwen, Chairman and CEO of Minera Andes, said: "These drill results demonstrate that the area in and around the San José mine is extremely prospective. We are eagerly awaiting the results of the ongoing exploration drilling in and outside the mine area. The recent $3.6 billion acquisition of Andean Resources' for its nearby Cerro Negro property by Goldcorp Inc. highlights the world class potential of this emerging gold/silver district." Exploration Has Become a Priority at San José The exploration drilling at San José has increased dramatically in 2010 over previous years and met with a high degree of success. A total of 54,476 meters were drilled in 265 diamond core holes during 2010, as compared to 115 core holes totaling 25,094 meters in 2009 and 85 core holes totaling 18,915 meters drilled in 2008. The success of the current exploration program is in large part a result of extensive surface geophysical surveys conducted during 2009 and 2010 along with a significant increase in drilling. In 2010, a total of 11 new veins were discovered that extended over a strike length of 7.5 kilometers. In October, the company reported nine new veins extending a cumulative total of 5.0 kilometers, and subsequently, two additional new veins were discovered in reconnaissance drilling that project for a cumulative total of 2.5 kilometers in strike length. The location of the new veins is shown in Exhibits 1 and 1A. An updated NI 43-101 Report was released on December 22, 2010 that included the drill results to the end of September, and it is available on SEDAR (www.sedar.com). This NI 43-101 report also includes an interim resource estimate as at September 30, 2010. A new resource and reserve estimate incorporating all 2010 drilling will be released later this month as part of the Company's Annual Information Form. Drilling from October to December 31, 2010 Exploration success continued during the fourth quarter with the discovery of two additional gold/silver veins called the Susana and Luli veins. The new veins have only widely spaced reconnaissance drilling and more drilling will be required to estimate resources for these veins. Selected assay results for the new veins are shown below, and highlights from surface drilling during the last three months of 2010 including the new veins are provided in Exhibit 2. All of the drilling reported herein was completed during 2010, and the assays reported below and in Exhibit 2 were analyzed by Alex Stewart Laboratory in Mendoza, Argentina and received through December 31, 2010. All widths shown below are true widths (normal to the dip of the vein). Longitudinal sections of the Susana and Luli veins are provided in Exhibit 3. Selected Assay Results • Susana Vein – 1200 meter strike length inferred, cut by 4 diamond drill holes. Hole SJD- 825- 3.10 m (meters) at 22.19 g/t (grams/tonne) Au and 2,318 g/t Ag • Luli Vein – 1300 meter strike length inferred, cut by 6 diamond drill holes. Hole SJD-484* – 1.27 m at 5.81 g/t Au and 640 g/t Ag Hole SJD-825 – 2.70 m at 5.35 g/t Au and 26.90 g/t Ag Hole SJD-852 – 0.24 m at 6.81 g/t Au and 569 g/t Ag * Existing drill hole extended Drill hole SJD-825 is important because it contains four separate silver/gold vein intercepts, one in the Luli vein and one in the Susana vein and two additional high-grade intercepts north of the Susana vein (see exhibit 1a). This suggests that with more drilling additional veins may be delineated north and parallel to the Susana vein. The Luli and Susana veins are part of the part of the E-W trending vein systems discovered earlier in 2010. The veins discovered in 2010 are especially important because their orientation is different from the typical northwest trend of all the other veins at San José. The discovery of this system, which does not outcrop, is being used as an exploration guide to open up new exploration opportunities on the property. Other exploration drilling is continuing to expand the resources on the known veins, such as the Ayelén and Odin veins. Exploration is also continuing on other areas of the joint venture property, such as Saavedra West and other target outside the mine workings. In addition, several reconnaissance exploration holes were drilled at the Saavedra West area 10km south of the main workings at San Jose. Anomalous disseminated silver and also some high-grade silver incepts were encountered in this area (see exhibit 3). The San José mine is operated by Minera Santa Cruz SA ("MSC"), which is 49% owned by the Corporation and 51% owned by Hochschild Mining plc. About Minera Andes Minera Andes is an exploration company exploring for gold, silver and copper in Argentina with three significant assets: A 49% interest in Minera Santa Cruz SA, owner of the San Jose Mine in close proximity to Goldcorp's Cerro Negro project; 100% ownership of the Los Azules copper deposit with an inferred mineral resource of 10.3 billion pounds of copper and an indicated resource of 2.2 billion pounds of copper; and, 100% ownership of a large portfolio of exploration properties in Santa Cruz province, Argentina, including properties bordering the Cerro Negro project in Santa Cruz Province. Minera Andes Announces Increased Silver and Gold Production for the Fourth Quarter and for the Year 2010 at the San Jose Mine

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2011) - Minera Andes Inc. (the "Corporation" or "Minera Andes") (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) announces the San José mine production results for the fourth quarter of 2010 and the year ended December 31, 2010. During the fourth quarter, the San José mine produced 1,871,440 ounces of silver and 26,141 ounces of gold, of which 49% is attributable to Minera Andes. For the full year of 2010 silver production was 5,323,842 ounces and gold production was 84,303 ounces.

Fourth quarter 2010 silver production was 33% higher and gold production was 19% higher compared to the third quarter of 2010. The increase in silver and gold production was the result of increased mill throughput, increased metallurgical recoveries for silver and gold, and higher grades for silver compared to the third quarter. The mill is currently operating routinely at full capacity. The increase in mill throughput was due to the development of additional production areas in the mine, and the improved silver grade was due to production from higher grade silver areas and because of incremental silver production from the Merrill Crowe circuit in the mill. Fourth quarter 2010 silver production increased 81% and gold increased 31% compared to the fourth quarter of 2009. Production in the fourth quarter of 2009 was reduced because of 15 days of labour disruptions.

Fourth quarter production cost information will be provided jointly with the financial results for the fourth quarter which are due to be filed at the end of March 2011.

Sales of silver and gold were 57% and 35% higher, respectively, in fourth quarter of 2010 compared to the third quarter as a result of increased ore production and a decrease in products inventory. Compared to the same quarter last year, sales of silver and gold in the fourth quarter of 2010 were 94% and 40% higher, respectively. This was mainly due to increases in mill throughput, metallurgical recoveries and head grades.

Minera Andes Announces That Inferred Resources More Than Double at the San Jose Mine, Argentina

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 22, 2010) - Minera Andes Inc. (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) is pleased to announce the results of an updated independent mineral resource estimate as at September 30, 2010 at the San José mine in Santa Cruz province, southern Argentina. The contained silver in the Inferred Mineral Resources increased by 133% and the contained gold increased by 122% compared to the December 31, 2009 estimate as reported by the Corporation in its March 31, 2010 Annual Information Form. The increase is primarily due to the discovery of nine new veins as well as important extensions of previously known veins, as reported by the Corporation on October 7, 2010. An updated resource/reserve technical report on the San José mine will be filed on SEDAR in the near future.

The San José mine is operated by Minera Santa Cruz SA, a joint venture owned 51% by Hochschild Mining Argentina, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hochschild Mining plc, and 49% by Minera Andes S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Corporation.

Rob McEwen, Chairman and CEO of Minera Andes, said:

"The big increase in the inferred silver and gold resources is terrific! It is the direct result of skilled geologists having a significantly higher exploration budget for a most prospective property. Our exploration goal is to meet and exceed the exploration success of Andean Resources' neigbouring Cerro Negro property."

Mineral Resources

At September 30, 2010, total Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources at the San José Mine were 651,000 ounces of gold and 44.2 million ounces of silver, contained in 3.0 million tonnes grading 6.81 grams/tonne (g/t) gold and 462 g/t silver, or 83.3 million ounces of silver equivalent. An additional 712,000 ounces of gold and 46.4 million ounces of silver, contained in 4.6 million tonnes, grading 4.87 g/t gold and 317 g/t silver, or 89.2 million ounces of silver equivalent, are classified as Inferred Resources. The mineral resources remain open along strike and at depth in some areas.

The September 30, 2010 resource estimate is an interim updated estimate, and a comprehensive updated resource and reserve estimate will be prepared for the year ending December 31, 2010 and released near the end of the first quarter of 2011. Details of the September 30, 2010 resources by vein are provided in Exhibit 1.

The September 30, 2010 resource estimate is net of 2010 mine production through September 2010, which was 323,398 tonnes at 6.68 g/t gold and 416 g/t silver. The new resources are a direct result of an increased emphasis on exploration at San José. Through the end of the third quarter of 2010, $5 million had been spent on exploration, and exploration for the fourth quarter is expected to be approximately $1.5 million.

P&E constructed a wire frame block model to estimate the resource. P&E estimated 'existing' vein resources as of September 30, 2010 based on December 31, 2009 resources, depleted by January 1st to September 30th, 2010 mine production. 'New' Inferred Resources, (added during the period December 31, 2009 to September 30, 2010), were estimated by P&E using a gold price of US$925 per ounce (oz) and silver price of US$15 per oz for all mineral resources. P&E validated the model estimates and found them to reasonably estimate grade and tonnage. The mineral resource estimates are compliant with CIM Definition Standards for Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves as incorporated by reference in NI 43–101. The independent Qualified Persons as defined by NI 43-101 for the purposes of the September 30, 2010 resource estimate disclosure are James L. Pearson, P.Eng., Eugene Puritch, P.Eng., David Burga, P.Geo and Fred H. Brown, CPG all of P&E and each a Qualified Person under NI 43-101.

The following summarizes the key assumptions, parameters and methods used in the mineral resource estimate:

* A marginal cutoff grade of 148 g/t of silver equivalent, representing the variable operating cost of $53.87/t was used to estimate the mineral resources.
* Drill hole assay values and channel samples were combined for mineral resource estimation.
* Bulk density value used for the resource estimate was 2.60 tonnes per cubic meter (t/m3) for all veins.
* Assays values manually identified as potentially economic were composited to length-weighted values.
* Prior to block estimation, gold composite samples were cut to 150 g/t at Huevos Verdes Sur,70 g/t at Frea and 40 g/t at Kospi. Silver assays were cut to 10,000 g/t at Huevos Verdes Sur, 4,200 g/t at Frea, and 4,400 g/t at Kospi. The capping values of the 'New' veins are summarized in the table below.

* Grade estimation was undertaken with oriented search ellipsoids and Ordinary Kriging where sufficient resolution was available for variography, or by Inverse Distance Cubed (1/d3) weighting of composite values in areas of lower resolution.
* The San José mineral 'existing' vein and 'new' vein resource estimates are based on 754 and 77 drill holes, respectively, and 10,744 channel samples. Channel samples were taken from drift backs in the Huevos Verdes Sur, Huevos Verdes Norte, Odin, Frea, and Kospi vein systems.
* Mineral resource estimation was confined to areas considered to have a reasonable degree of geological confidence.

Mineral resources that are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability.

The estimate of mineral resources may be materially affected by environmental, permitting, legal, title, taxation, sociopolitical, marketing, or other relevant issues. The quantity and grade of reported inferred resources in this estimation are uncertain in nature and there has been insufficient exploration to define these inferred resources as an indicated or measured mineral resource and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in upgrading them to an indicated or measured mineral resource category. The mineral resources in this press release were estimated using CIM Standards.

Minera Andes Announces Financial Results for the Third Quarter 2010

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 11, 2010) - Minera Andes Inc. (the "Corporation" or "Minera Andes") (TSX:MAI)(OTCBB:MNEAF) is pleased to announce net income of $6.1 million ($0.02 per share basic and diluted) for the three month period ended September 30 2010 compared to net income of $5.2 million ($0.02 per share basic and diluted) for the same period ended September 30 2009. All amounts in this news release are in US dollars unless otherwise noted. Our financial statements and management's discussion and analysis are available under the Corporation's profile at www.sedar.com and www.sec.gov.

Minera Andes has a 49% interest in the San José Mine operated and owned by Minera Santa Cruz ("MSC"), a joint venture between Minera Andes (49%) and Hochschild Mining (51%).

Highlights – Third Quarter 2010

* Net income increase of $0.9 million: The Company reported a $0.9 million increase in net income for the quarter (as compared to the same quarter in 2009) primarily due to an increase of $1.8 million in income recorded on our investment in MSC, which was partially offset by an increase of $0.9 million in total expenses for the quarter. The increase in expenses was a net result of an increase in general and administrative costs, a decrease in foreign currency exchange gains (due to a decrease in the strengthening of the Canadian dollar), and a decrease in professional fees as compared to the third quarter in 2009.

* San José Mine Performance (on a 100% basis): Net income at the San José Mine increased by $3.8 million compared to the same three month period in 2009, driven primarily by an 8% increase in sales. The increase in sales was due to higher realized metal prices for both silver and gold offset by a decrease in the number of ounces of silver and gold sold in the quarter. Production for the quarter was 1,408,501 ounces of silver and 22,025 ounces of gold. Silver production was unchanged and gold production was 2% lower compared to the same quarter in 2009, a result of a decrease in total ore processed at the mine offset by an increase in the head grade for silver. On a per-ounce co-product basis the average cash cost was $8.81 per ounce of silver and $570 per ounce of gold for the quarter.

* Settlement of lawsuit with Hochschild Mining plc: The Company announced on September 20 2010, an end to litigation with certain affiliates of Hochschild Mining plc. ("Hochschild") in New York courts relating to funding of the San José Mine joint venture. Revised finance and shareholder loan agreements were completed and the Company received its first scheduled repayment of interest.

* San José Mine Exploration: The Company announced on October 7 2010, the discovery of nine new high-grade gold/silver veins plus important extensions of two other veins, which together total more than five kilometers in strike length at the San José Mine. The discoveries represent significant exploration progress at the San José Mine where the total strike length of all the previously known veins totalled approximately 17 kilometers. The 2010 exploration budget has been increased to $6.5 million compared to $2.5 million in 2009.
